The Oretta kitchen is overseen by head chef and expert, Christian Fontolan. The owner of Oretta is Salvatore Mele. You’ll notice the space is modern 1960s-inspired, almost on the verge of Mad Men mixed in with a rustic look. Oretta works because of it’s great atmosphere and it’s menu that’s adaptable to everything from a quick bite at lunchtime to an evening business meeting or after-hours get-togethers.
Leading towards the back of the establishment, you’ll also find the Oretta Café which might be more preferable to those looking for a quiet space. At the cafe you’ll find a selection of coffees, house-baked pastries, pizza slices, and more. The prices are fair at both the main restaurant and at the café. Some of the recommended menu options routinely highlighted by happy customers include the salads, cocktails, savoury and hearty pastas, and sophisticatedly layered pizzas. Much of the restaurant’s ingredients are sourced either directly from Italy or from farms across Ontario.
In addition to the cafe, you’ll find a private dining area upstairs at Oretta. For larger get-togethers or for business affairs, it’s a really great high-class spot to make an impression. The interiors of everything are absolutely beautiful and the food is amazing. Using OpenTable, you can even book a reservation beforehand so it’s easy to beat the crowd on busy days. Today, Oretta stands as one of King West’s most popular restaurants, focusing on great service, good value to cost, and excellent food. If you’ve never tried it, it is highly recommended by many King West residents!
