Old and new on Mercer Street

The towers stand on the former site of the Pilkington Glass Factory. The heritage brick façade of 31 Mercer, built in 1938, was saved and worked into the new street-level retail, so a piece of the area’s industrial past sits at the base of two modern glass towers. Studio Munge designed the lobby and amenity spaces in a polished, hotel-like style, in keeping with the Nobu brand.

Suites

Suites run from about 400 sq. ft. to about 1,100 sq. ft. Most are one-bedroom, one-bedroom-plus-den and two-bedroom layouts, with some three-bedroom units on higher floors. That size range makes Nobu popular with investors who want a recognizable, high-end name in the heart of downtown, and with tenants who want to live right in the Entertainment District.

Location and getting around

Mercer Street is a short, quiet street between Blue Jays Way and John Street. It’s just a block from King Street’s theatres, TIFF Lightbox and restaurants, and close to the Rogers Centre and the CN Tower. The 504 King streetcar and St. Andrew subway station are a few minutes’ walk away, and Union Station is close enough to walk to.

Buying or renting at Nobu Residences

With two towers and hundreds of suites, Nobu usually has several listings at the same time. Comparing which tower a suite is in, how high it is and which way it faces is the best way to avoid overpaying.
