Thompson Residences was first marketed as “629 King West” and later took the name of the Thompson Hotel nearby, which Freed also built. Montreal’s Saucier + Perrotte designed it as two towers: one on King Street and a shorter one on quiet Stewart Street.
The suites have the clean, modern finishes Freed is known for, including engineered hardwood floors and updated kitchens and bathrooms. They range from compact studios and one-bedrooms to large penthouse layouts of more than 2,000 sq. ft. One-bedroom-plus-den and two-bedroom suites are especially popular with end users.
You’re at the busiest stretch of King West, around the corner from the Thompson Hotel and steps from dozens of restaurants. The 504 King and 511 Bathurst streetcars stop at the corner, and the planned Ontario Line station at King and Bathurst will add a subway connection right next door.
With about 400 suites in two towers, there’s usually a choice of listings. Suites in the Stewart St tower tend to be quieter than those facing King.
